Extensive review of the new Outdoor Chair from Cortazu

uitgebreide-test-van-de-nieuwe-outdoor-chair-van-cortazu-hero2

Comfortably taking in the view after a special hike? Staying cozy together around the campfire? Outdoor enthusiasts agree that a comfortable, lightweight outdoor chair is essential when you get out there. But which is the best in the market and where should you pay attention to when purchasing one? Rest assured, we have found the perfect outdoor chair that will make your experience in nature even more unforgettable.

For this article, we review Cortazu, the company that previously won the leading ISPO awards with its Hard Shell jacket. They have developed a new Outdoor Chair and I was given the opportunity to review it extensively.

The Outdoor Chair

Cortazu’s outdoor chair is a compact, lightweight chair (396g) that is easy to take with you, wherever you go. The chair is designed to provide instant comfort in seconds, from sunset ‘on the road’ to camping in the mountains. The outdoor chair is made of recycled polyester and has a waterproof seat. The weight limit of the chair is 120 kg.

The review

According to Cortazu, “with this outdoor chair you create instant comfort, wherever you are”. I have reviewed the chair in various conditions and specifically examined this claim. I can already reveal: I have become a fan of the outdoor chair from Cortazu!

The outdoor chair was a welcome addition during a ten-day trip through England and Scotland in all kinds of weather. Outdoor friend Bart even took the chair to a multi-day outdoor event in South Africa and had this to say: “I’ve found that a simple form of comfort can feel like pure joy when you spend several days in the middle of nowhere in a desert and are very active during the day. The outdoor chair from Cortazu offers this. Coming back to your tent and sitting in an incredibly comfortable chair only to relax within seconds was a welcome relief.”

Features

The outdoor chair has more than 20 unique features, some of which we found quite noticeable: the reinforced 2-bar frame (most outdoor chairs have a 1-bar frame), the large side pocket for storing, for example, a water bottle, the comfortable, lightweight mesh fabric in the side and back panels which improves breathability and airflow, the pull straps that make it easy to pull the fabric over the frame, and the seat which is made from recycled nylon and completely waterproof.

Description features by Cortazu

Compared to other outdoor chairs these are serious features that not every folding outdoor chair can match.

Compactness

The chair comes in a compact carrying bag (37 x 13 cm), so you can easily take it anywhere you go. The chair weighs 965g and has a carrying capacity of 120kg. Where the carrying capacity leaves room for improvement, the weight is a real plus. The wide and deep seat (53 x 37.5 cm) is also very comfortable.

Applicability

Wiebe, the founder of Cortazu, told us that “you can assemble the chair within 25 seconds”. We didn’t actually use a stopwatch, but – although the first time it took some getting used to – you quickly master setting it up. The pleasant construction of the frame (with elastic corts) and pull straps in the corners of the fabric makes it very easy to set up the chair.

Are you looking for comfort during the sunset, or the mornings in the mountains? Our experience is that this chair is perfect for this. Within seconds you can create the perfect moment of rest that you might be looking for, regardless of the situation. The chair comes in 10 colors, so there is something for everyone in that area too.

Pricing

The chair is priced in the mid-range of premium outdoor accessories. The chair consists of only two separate components. For € 89,-, this versatile product is a no-brainer to buy for your next trip. When purchasing multiple chairs, you also get a bundle discount, making them even more affordable. Compared to other brands in this industry, I am very pleased with the price-quality ratio.

About Cortazu

Cortazu is a Dutch outdoor brand that sells high-quality, technical outdoor clothing and accessories for skiing, hiking and daily use and is committed to cooling the planet and preserving nature by, among other things, re-greening the land. With their sustainability mission, they became the first Dutch outdoor brand to obtain the B-Corp certificate in April 2022.

Final verdict

I have become a fan of the Outdoor Chair from Cortazu! The chair is versatile, compact and easy to use. It’s not the first outdoor chair we’ve reviewed, but Cortazu’s Outdoor Chair stands out so far. For any outdoor adventure, you know for sure that you are in the right place with the chairs from Cortazu.
