Review: Thule Roundtrip Snowboard Bag 165cm

Thule-Roundtrip-Boardbag-Header.001
For our review trip to Stubai we had to transport 15 boards. And not only to Stubai itself, for which we had the Thule Motion XT XL car top carrier available, but every day we took 6 boards up the mountain since we wanted at least two of us to ride each board.
So we were very happy that we had a number of Thule RoundTrip snowboard bags with us. These are bags of 168 centimeters long that will fit snowboards up to 165 cm. The bags are well lined and therefore offer good protection for your snowboard. We had up to 4 boards at the same time in the bags. Thanks to the two compression straps you can secure one or more boards well and prevent the boards from sliding around in the bag. Especially when we carried the bags with us during our last descent we noticed that everything in the bags was indeed nicely secure; the boards were nice and balanced as we rode.

The bags open over the entire length with an angular s-shaped zipper, so you can easily reach your stuff everywhere, but at the same time ensure that material does not just fall out. In every bag there is a loose blue bag with a lined black bottom. It took a while before we understood what it’s for. You can slide the black bottom over the tip or the tail of your board to give it extra protection, but in the end we used it to carry our bindings. The bag also contains a mesh zipper pockets for loose items. The bag is quite spacious, so if you only have one board, then you can easily bring clothes and other items with you. My snowboard shoes (size 44) and helmet fit in the bag, with space left for a shell pants and jacket, gloves, base-layers, socks and one or two mid layers. Take along a backpack and you can also take the plane with all your snowboard stuff and extra’s. The bag has a shoulder strap that is comfortable to carry the bag with and is positioned so that the bag is always well balanced. Sounds a bit obvious, but I have experienced other bags that were much less balanced. The outer fabric is made of sturdy and waterproof 600D polyester material. The bag weighs 1.33 kg when empty.
All in all a well-built, spacious bag that will protect your snowboard stuff during your trip to your winter sports destination.
