First aid for minimalists with healthy scepticism

EHBO voor minimalisten met gezond wantrouwen

Most first aid kits gather dust somewhere in the back of a drawer until you need a plaster and find that all you have is some expired paracetamol and an elastic bandage from 2003. The SURVIVAL Handy First Aid Kit, on the other hand, is not a decorative box for peace of mind. It is a serious mini-safe full of useful tools, made by people who clearly know what it means to stay calm in the midst of chaos.

Fortunately, I’ve hardly had to use this kit in recent months. But on the occasions when I did open it, I was more than glad it was there. A splinter during a walk in the woods? Sterile tweezers immediately at hand. A cut while camping? Gauze and tape ready in seconds. This is a first aid kit for those who don’t want to waste time searching.

The right contents

What stands out is how well thought-out the contents are. No unnecessary frills, just exactly what you need. Sterile wound care, gloves, a CPR shield (a small mask with a valve that allows safe resuscitation without direct mouth contact), safety blankets, bandages, plasters and a notepad (at the back of the first aid booklet) & pencil. Everything is logically arranged and colour-coded:

  • red for trauma
  • blue for hygiene
  • black for aids
  • green for information

It sounds like something out of a military manual, and that’s exactly why it works.

The SMART Bandage, for example, is not cheap junk, but a sturdy, professional bandage that allows you to apply real pressure in the event of bleeding. The addition of a CPR card and a resuscitation shield is not excessive, but a pure necessity. And those tweezers? Not some plastic junk, but a sturdy stainless steel instrument with a protective cap. Details like these make the difference between a first aid kit and a well-designed one.

Smart and easy to maintain

What sets this kit apart is the well-thought-out system for keeping it up to date. Each item is numbered so you can see at a glance what you have used and what needs to be replenished. Scan the QR code on the bag and you will be taken directly to the Restock Portal. No hassle with separate lists or forgotten items. It’s as if someone has finally understood that a first aid kit is only really useful if it remains complete.

What’s more, this kit is compact and lightweight (555 grams), making it ideal for keeping in your rucksack, cycle bag or glove compartment. It takes up hardly any space but provides maximum peace of mind.

The SURVIVAL App as a bonus

As if that weren’t enough, this kit also gives you access to the SURVIVAL app for iOS en Android. This means you always have a digital guide at your fingertips with instructions, tips and protocols in case of an emergency. No more searching on YouTube or panicking with bloodied hands. This app turns any layperson into a trained first responder.

Final thoughts

The SURVIVAL Handy First Aid Kit is a compact masterpiece for people who take safety seriously. No frills, just a robust, smart and well-designed kit that really helps you when it counts. Small in size, big in action.
