Sports eyewear company Vallon is on a mission to take its unique sunglasses and goggles to the European market and beyond. Their vision has struck a note with the outdoor community. The company is one of the fastest-growing sports eyewear brands in the world and has seen exponential growth in Europe, USA and Canada in recent years.
Vallon was founded by two Swedish brothers with a deep passion for outdoor sports and a shared vision: reinventing sports eyewear by creating both classically good-looking and functionally high-performing products. This meant digging deep into sports history, inspiration across everything from traditional high alpine designs to 70s movies, to create unique new high-performance sunglasses and goggles. We took a closer look at some of their most popular winter styles.
Retro sunglasses with top notch technology
Anyone who’s been to the Alps in recent years will have noticed the big boom in ski touring and mountaineering and seen lots of alpine sunglasses protected by leather side shields. There is a big chance those sunglasses have come from Vallon. In 2019 they released the Heron Glacier, a throwback to mountaineering glasses of the 60s and 70s, but with upgraded optics and a more modern fit. These types of sunglasses offer maximum protection for your eyes for long days out on the mountain, blocking harmful UV rays and protecting them from dust and wind, and making you look like the real deal!
High-end with classic aesthetics
Their ski goggles share a similarly classic aesthetic, taking inspiration from past styles and upgraded with high-tech features, as well as top-range optics from Carl Zeiss with optical clarity and vision on par with the Oakley Prizm lens. We’ve previously tried their goggles on a trip to the Alps and were very impressed with how they performed. Vallon brings the classic aesthetic to life with today’s technology for outdoor athletes.
Also for the apres ski
And for the apres ski, Vallon makes colourful sunglasses like the Ski Aviators. This style of sunglasses was everywhere during the 70s and 80s, worn by the likes of Robert Redford and Paul Newman and the best skiers of the time. After virtually disappearing from the mountain over the past decades, the style is back with a signature mirror lens, making these sunglasses a favourite of ours here at Gearlimits.
If you want some new eyewear for your ski trip this year, we highly recommend you take a look at what Vallon offers. All products are shipped from The Netherlands, and delivery is free within one or two business days.
