Do Ekster wallets pass the hype test?

Do Ekster wallets pass the hype test?

The popularity of Ekster wallets is widespread, with their brand being heavily advertised and promoted on various social media platforms like Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and YouTube. But, are ‘Ekster Wallets’ a hype, or are they really that good? And, are they also suitable for those who lead an active lifestyle? Our answer you’ll find underneath.

So, when we saw they did a collab with Leo Messi and created a specially engraved Messi wallet, we knew we had to try it out for ourselves. If it’s good enough for one of the biggest record-setting soccer players in the world, they must be doing something right. Let’s find out.

Stylish, functional & sustainable

Do Ekster wallets pass the hype test?

Okay, first off, this is a good-looking wallet. It’s slim and modern in style but still has the feel and waft of real leather that gives it swagger right off the bat. We were shocked to learn it was actually made out of vegan recycled leather from old car windshields. We have no idea how you turn glass into leather but it’s better for the environment and makes the material really durable. We should’ve paid more attention in science class.

Fast

But it’s not just about looks. How does this thing stand up in the usability department? The short answer is: pretty damn well. You just press a button at the bottom corner of the wallet and BOOM, your cards pop-up, making it super easy to grab whichever one you need. Very slick, Ekster. Very slick.

A lot of storage

You can put your most-used cards in there for quick-release access and there’s still room for more in the other compartments. It can also snugly house cash in the elastic band for those of you who still carry paper currency (but it could also hold receipts, business cards, ticket stubs). We put a mix of 10 cards inside to see if it would produce your typical bi-fold bulge. Nope.. It managed to maintain a slim silhouette that we could barely feel in our front pocket, let alone see.

Sharp design. User-friendly. Lightweight. Ekster, you have our attention. These benefits alone seem worth the price tag, but there’s more. We’re as surprised as you are.

Unlike other minimalist wallets that focus primarily on keeping your cards compact, Ekster added a bunch of features to make it more high-tech. It’s got your standard RFID blocking to protect your cards from wireless theft, but the crafty cats at Ekster took it one step further with a solar-powered tracking device that tucks seamlessly inside and syncs up with your phone if you ever lose it. If you feel like shelling out a little more money, you can go full James Bond with an add-on that lets you have two-way communication from your phone to your wallet and vice versa. This is the future, man.

The Internet didn’t overhype this

The more we explored the Ekster brand and carried around our sleek new card companion, the more excited we got. Over a wallet. Again, we’re just as surprised as you are. But now, we’re also Ekster believers. So, go forth and procure this astonishing advancement in wallet technology with confidence. The only downside is you’ll probably want to keep picking up the check so you can flash your fanned-out cards to friends, but there are worse problems to have. Like being the dude fumbling for his credit card in an outdated wallet.
