Under Armour komt met Limited Edition 3D geprinte trainingschoen – de Architech

3D printen is hot. Ook op het gebied van sportschoenen wordt hier steeds vaker mee geëxperimenteerd. Under Armour gaat proberen dit een onderdeel te laten zijn van haar productiemethode. Het eerste project; de UA Architech.

De UA Architech

Under Armour introduceert haar allereerste 3D geprinte trainingschoen, de UA Architech met functionele 3D geprinte tussenzool en 3D ClutchFit auxetic bovenwerk. De schoen wordt gemaakt in een gelimiteerde oplage van 96 paar – een verwijzing naar 1996 – het jaar van de oprichting van Under Armour. De trainingschoen is geprint in het Under Armour’s state-of-the-art Innovation Lab in Baltimore. Bij de productie van de schoen wordt gebruik gemaakt van Autodesk Within software om het generatieve ontwerp van de tussenzool rasterconstructie te kunnen printen. Deze zorgt voor een stabiele hiel-structuur en goede demping van de Architech. De UA Architech is verkrijgbaar vanaf 18 maart via de Under Armour website en Baltimore Brand House winkel. De retailprijs van de schoenen is $ 300,- (± € 273,-).
